Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont

The Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont (HHAV) works toward a future in which all people living in Vermont have safe, stable, affordable homes and if homelessness occurs, it is brief, rare, and non-recurring.

2026 Legislative Summary – June 8, 2026

June 8, 2026 by Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont

2026 Legislative Summary

June 8, 2026

The 2026 state legislative session wrapped up in the final days of May. While HHAV did not see all of our 2026 priorities make it in state law or in the 2027 state budget, a great deal of our priorities did make it and have either already been signed into law or on their way to the Governor’s desk. Many bills that the legislature did pass are still in the final stages of being finalized and posted on the legislative website and sent to the Governor. We will see what bills are ultimately passed into law. We do not know if any will be vetoed or not and have no knowledge of a planned veto override session

Please find here a very high-level summary of the 2026 legislative session and where things landed for HHAV’s priorities. We will be sending out a more detailed summary before our June 16 monthly membership meeting (1pm via Zoom) and will be walking through a recap of the session during that time. Please see the calendar invite and previous message about the June 16 meeting.

The 2026 Advocacy page contains all the testimony and memos submitted on behalf of members.

Thank you to all our members who provided tremendous leadership and support including testimony this legislative session. It was a challenging year, and, we accomplished so much together. Collective action is the best kind of action!
