Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont

The Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont (HHAV) works toward a future in which all people living in Vermont have safe, stable, affordable homes and if homelessness occurs, it is brief, rare, and non-recurring.

The Youth Action Board (YAB) is a collective of young people from around the state, aged 14-24, who have experienced homelessness or precarious housing either while living with their family or on their own. YAB members help guide the work of the Vermont Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program and are decision makers around funding and planning priorities.  YAB members are also supported in their own individual and collective work to raise awareness and end youth homelessness in their communities.

Oh-Hey, My names JR, some of my passions are loving my cat, eating mozzarella sticks, and climbing mount doom barefoot. I am openly gay. And if you really knew me, you'd know that I was homeless for the majority of my teenage years, and because of that I decided to join the YAB, and share not only my experience but my voice as well in hopes that I will help someone else out, and pay it forward.

Jakya Ellison:

Hi! My name is Jakya and I'm 17 years old, I live in White River Junction. My family and I use to bounce around from unstable housing to unstable housing, so I understand how hard it can be for youth to stay in one place long. My interests are, painting, working on cars, and being around animals!
