Tuesday, September 17, 2019
9:30 am – 2:00 pm
** Note special early bird session at 8:30 **
Vermont State House, Montpelier

We hope you can attend this important once-a-year event!  House Speaker Mitzi Johnson has graciously agreed to let us meet in the House Chamber this year!  The agenda has been finalized and all speakers confirmed.  Here’s the line-up:

  • Early bird special at 8:30 – Join State Treasurer Beth Pearce as she gathers input for her legislatively mandated report on financing an additional 1,000 affordable homes over the next five years, from workforce housing, to mobile homes, homeownership, and supportive housing for people who are homeless and others with special needs.
  • Hear from congressional staffers from all three Vermont delegation offices – Pollaidh Major (Leahy), Haley Pero (Sanders), and Thifeen Deen (Welch) – with the latest news from DC on the federal budget and important policy developments that will affect affordable housing and homelessness over the next year.
  • Alison Harte from the AHS Secretary’s office and Renee Weeks from the Upper Valley Haven will give us an update on the progress of the AHS Work Group on Specialized Vouchers & Supportive Services.
  • We’re honored to have two important legislative leaders share their perspectives on the Legislature’s work on affordable housing and homelessness:
Senate Majority Leader Becca Balint and House General Committee Chair Tom Stevens will help provide a framework for the subsequent preliminary discussion of our legislative priorities.
  • Let us know what you think is needed to help create more affordable housing and reduce homelessness in Vermont as the two coalitions begin the discussion of our joint 2020 state legislative priorities.

After the morning session, we’ll move to the State House cafeteria for lunch at noon.  We hope you can stay to continue the important conversations from the morning session while networking with colleagues from around the state.

At 12:45, the two coalitions will split up for consecutive meetings:

  • The VAHC will conduct its Annual Meeting in the cafeteria, and
  • The VCEH will hold its monthly meeting in the House Chamber
  • VCEH Monthly Meeting (12:45 – 2:00 in the House Chamber)
    • VOTES: 1) VCEH Policies & Procedures 2) CE Transfer Form 3) CE Section 7 Update
    • NOFA Community Application Highlights/Updates – Draft
    • Training Wants/Needs + Annual Calendar Refresh

Here is a link to the complete agenda for all three meetings.
