The Vermont Coalition for Disability Rights will be hosting the annual Disability Awareness Day at the Vermont State House on February 19, 2014. Action will be occurring all throughout the day, starting 8:00 am and going to 6:30 pm. Here’s a breakdown of the day’s happenings:
9 to 10: VCDR will be serving coffee and pastries in Room 10. Come register, grab a cup of joe, connect with your peers and plan your day.
9:30 to 4: Attend workshops to get updates and talking points from VCDR members on hot topics.
11:00: Attend a press conference in the Cedar Creek room about employment for people with disabilities.
Noon: Make an appointment to have lunch with your legislator. Pizza will be served in Room 10 from 1 to 2 p.m.
1:00: Disability Awareness Day will be announced on the House floor.
4:30 to 6:30: VCDR will be serving appetizers in the cafeteria. Keynote and panel discussion about empowering people with disabilities.
The keynote address, will be given by Chester A. Finn. Finn is a Special Assistant in the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and co-founder of the Community Empowerment Programs Inc., which provides community services and educational programming for people with disabilities.
