Tomorrow, Thursday, October 25, the Brattleboro Retreat is sponsoring an event with Anna Luepnitz, PhD, who will be discussing her work with the homeless population in Philadelphia as well as Philadelphia’s highly successful program for the homeless called Project HOME. This will be followed by a panel discussion which will include advocates in Windham County who work with our own homeless population. This is also an opportunity to learn what volunteer opportunities exist in various organizations in the area. Check out the details:
Visiting presenter Deborah Anna Luepnitz, Ph.D., will discuss her work with the homeless in Philadelphia by first sharing a video about Project HOME, considered to be a highly effective organization for ending homelessness in the United States. She will then discuss her own inspiration, an association of therapists who provide free counseling to the homeless.
Dr. Luepnitz will be joined in a panel discussion by Windham County leaders who advocate for the homeless. Panel members include: Knowles Wentworth, community outreach program coordinator for Healthcare & Rehabilitation Services; Pastor Lise Sparrow from the Guilford Church; Lucie Fortier, executive director of the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center; and Joshua Davis, executive director of Morningside Shelter.
The event will take from 5:30 pm—7:00 pm in the Brattleboro Retreat’s Education Conference Room. Free and open to the public and no registration required. Refreshments will be served! We hope to see you there.
