Housing First Training Events Happening Next Week in Rutland and Burlington

March 14, 2014 by Vermont Coalition To End Homelessness

Vermont Veteran Services and Pathways Vermont are hosting two Housing First training events that will take place in Rutland and HousingFirstEvent2Burlington next week.

Both events are free, but you must send in your RSVP to ensure a space at one of the training events.

The training, An Introduction to Housing First: The Art & Science of Practice, will first take place at Merchants Hall, located at 42 Merchants Row in Rutland, on Wednesday, March 19 and again in Burlington the next day at the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, located at 60 Lake Street in Burlington, on Thursday, March 20.

In this training attendees will learn about the core principles and practices of the Housing First Model from top experts in the field.  There will be detailed discussion of the five domains that consist of Housing First and how they are applied in a rural setting:

  1. Housing Choice and Structure
  2. Separation of Housing and Services
  3. Service Philosophy
  4. Service Array
  5. Program Structure

Housing First was created by Dr. Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing, Inc.  At this training learn from Pathways to Housing National’s Director of Training, Juliana Walker, about the philosophy, history and practice of Housing First. There will be ample time for group discussion and questions. There is a limited number of seats available; please RSVP now to ensure a space at this FREE training.

Questions?  Please send an email to info@pathwaysvermont.org or call at (888) 492-8218 for more specific information about this training.
