Vermont Veteran Services and Pathways Vermont are hosting two Housing First training events that will take place in Rutland and Burlington next week.
Both events are free, but you must send in your RSVP to ensure a space at one of the training events.
The training, An Introduction to Housing First: The Art & Science of Practice, will first take place at Merchants Hall, located at 42 Merchants Row in Rutland, on Wednesday, March 19 and again in Burlington the next day at the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, located at 60 Lake Street in Burlington, on Thursday, March 20.
In this training attendees will learn about the core principles and practices of the Housing First Model from top experts in the field. There will be detailed discussion of the five domains that consist of Housing First and how they are applied in a rural setting:
- Housing Choice and Structure
- Separation of Housing and Services
- Service Philosophy
- Service Array
- Program Structure
Housing First was created by Dr. Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing, Inc. At this training learn from Pathways to Housing National’s Director of Training, Juliana Walker, about the philosophy, history and practice of Housing First.
