Introduction to Our Online Training Initiative
The Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness (VCEH) Training Initiative is a partnership between the Coalition, the Vermont Council on Homelessness, and the Vermont Office of Economic Opportunity. We recognized the need to create easily accessible training for staff working on housing and homelessness across Vermont. The Training Initiative helps us to create a shared understanding of how we are working together to end homelessness in Vermont. It’s a way for staff to learn from other Vermont organizations about best practices, key strategies, and resources in our field.
Online Learning Modules
These freestanding modules engage you with key concepts, frameworks, mindsets, and skills central to the work of ending homelessness. We trust you’ll find them practical and relevant whether you are brand new or experienced in the field.
Connecting to Your Workplace
Completing a module is one step toward strengthening our work together. The key is to transfer your learning into your day-to-day work. There are three ways to do this: Practice + Reflect, Learn with Peers, Check-In with Your Supervisor.
Other Virtual or In-Person Trainings
VCEH and our partners will be hosting various virtual and in-person trainings throughout the year. These will be an opportunity for learners and supervisors to gather with peers across the state to build your practice and explore key components of this work. Stay tuned for upcoming sessions!
Your Learning Journey
Think of your learning journey as an apartment complex. Each floor represents a topic area that you will explore.
- First Floor: Get Familiar
- Second Floor: Get People Housed
- Third Floor: Keep People Housed
Think of each apartment as a module. Each module has 5 components:
Each of you will complete different modules within the topic areas, so everyone’s learning journey will be unique.
Designers of this Training Initiative
This training initiative was a true team effort. Volunteers from the housing and homeless community across the great State of Vermont joined forces to conceptualize and build this training initiative for you.
Huge thanks to Alison Harte at the Agency of Human Services for her leadership, and to Renee Weeks, Rebeka Lawrence-Gomez, Lily Sojourner, and the many other leaders across the field for their contributions of time and expertise.
Each module was spearheaded by different experts in the field. We recognize them all for their boundless contributions — not only to this training initiative but to the lives and well-being of our Vermont communities, every day.
Special thanks to Andrea Van Liew and Valerie Uccellani and other team members at Global Learning Partners for their steadfastness and flexibility. GLP’s support as we launched was invaluable and helped ensure the use of proven adult learning principles in all aspects of this initiative. We are continually refining and adding to this training initiative. Deep appreciation to all who are a part of this initiative moving forward.
