Serve Your Community Through AmeriCorps with Vermont Coalition of Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs’ (VCRHYP) Youth Action Board!

The Vermont Youth Development Corps AmeriCorps (VYDC) program is recruiting AmeriCorps members for the 2019-2020 service year! AmeriCorps is a national service program that creates community service opportunities across the county, and VYDC places AmeriCorps members throughout Vermont to promote hope, justice, and well-being for all Vermont youth and families. The Vermont Coalition of Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs is one of the sites with which VYDC places AmeriCorps members we have an opening!

 

VCRHYP is recruiting a VYDC AmeriCorps Youth Engagement Coordinator.  This position will help build youth leadership in Vermont’s response to youth homelessness through supporting the Youth Action Board (YAB) of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program/ Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness, coordinated by VCRHYP.  The Youth Action Board is comprised of people aged 14-25 across the state who have experienced homelessness, precarious housing, or high system involvement. This is a reduced part-time position of approximately 14 hours a week with a one year commitment.

 

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will:

  • build capacity for the YAB through member recruitment and retention,
  • help YAB develop and implement an action plan,
  • connect YAB members to resources and opportunities,
  • build strong support for the YAB
  • develop opportunities for YAB to share their work and educate community members,
  • help represent YAB at statewide meetings,
  • coordinate and support regular YAB meetings,
  • support YAB co-chairs’ facilitation, and
  • conduct statewide outreach through social media.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a reliable car and have car insurance. A car is mandatory for this position for transporting Youth Action Board members. Mileage is reimbursed.
