Vermont Department of Labor Seeks Public Comment On WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)

February 3, 2016 by Vermont Coalition To End Homelessness

The Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL) has scheduled meetings around the state to seek public comment and engage stakeholders in the dialogue about the changes to the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).  The meetings will be facilitated by Vermont Department of Labor regional managers, and key questions will be presented and discussed in order to solicit ideas and feedback for the State’s WIOA Unified Plan.

“Under the federal guidelines, a Unified Plan will be filed by the Department of Labor, Agency of Education – Adult Education, and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. However, there are many partner organizations that are keenly interested in the enhanced collaboration required under the new WIOA, including education and training providers, business owners, economic development organizations, state and federal agencies, advocacy organizations, and Vermont citizens who may be interested in pursuing available services. The meetings will give people an opportunity to discuss their ideas to enhance the opportunities and services under WIOA”, said Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan.

The draft plan document will also be available by February on-line for public comment until March 30, 2016 at the Vermont Department of Labor’s website, http://labor.vermont.gov/.  The VDOL staff are also available to discuss specific questions with partner organizations.  The meeting dates are as follows:
