Here are some tips for making this (and every) virtual meeting more functional and interactive:
- Joining the video conference is preferable to joining via phone. We are most invested in you attending – so if phone is the option you have please do still join!
- Wear a headset or use a speaker system if you can (vs. using your computer’s microphone and speakers). Headsets and speakers improve sound quality and help to diminish background noise when you’re talking and/or listening to the meeting.
- Use a webcam if you have one – a high percentage of communication is non-verbal and although we’re still going to lose a lot in this meeting type being able to see each other’s faces helps with meeting flow, participation and understanding.
- Sign-in early. Use some of the time you would have spent on the road to log-in a little early, familiarize yourself with the platform and test out your equipment
