Updates on Domestic and Sexual Violence Legislature & BoS CoC Funding

June 21, 2019 by Sarah Phillips
  • New VT Legislation on DV protections: Check out Vermont Network’s Blog post about all that happened during this Legislative session. In the Blog post you’ll find highlights as well as their Legislative Chart indicating on the status of Bills related to Domestic & Sexual Violence.
  • VPR article:  “Judiciary Data Suggests DV Charges Growing More Severe”
  • “As part of the FFY2018 Continuum of Care Program funding cycle, HUD awarded the VT Balance of State CoC a new Rapid Rehousing Project ($163,909) that begins October 2019 to assist 13 households fleeing domestic and other violence.   As part of a collaboration with the VT Network Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, the VT State Housing Authority (VSHA) will administer rental assistance in partnership with Capstone Community Action which will serve Central Vermont (Lamoille, Orange and Washington Counties).”
  • “In preparation for the upcoming FFY2019 HUD CoC funding opportunity, the VT Balance of State CoC encourages eligible organizations (non-profits, PHAs, state/local government) to consider applying for a potential new Rapid Rehousing-DV project.  As CoC Collaborative Applicant, VSHA will provide technical support to any organization interested in submitting their own RRH project application to HUD.  Otherwise, VSHA may consider submitting another RRH-DV project application, to serve one or two areas within the VT BoS CoC, as long as sufficient services match can be identified for general case management.”
